Programme Description

This diploma is designed to prepare students for exciting careers in this dynamic field. Through classroom and laboratory experience, graduates gain in-depth knowledge of the components and systems that make up the global telecommunications network. Starting with the basics of electronics, electrical and computing, students learn about the media and devices that transport and direct communication signals through that network. Students become familiar with current technology and develop the tools they will need to work with future advances.

The program provides students with a good foundation in the fundamentals of telecommunications, including satellite communications, digital media broadcasting, mobile communications, broadband technologies and internetworking. Students will be exposed to formal standards and practices which equip them with the most up-to-date techniques for successfully implementing and using a telecommunication system.

Programme Aims

To provide graduates with relevant skills for the growing local electronics and telecommunication industries as well as other commercial and industrial companies in support of the emerging ICT industry
To offer graduates with a route into employment so that they can make a valuable contribution to plan, design, operate, install, configure and maintain electronics and telecommunication systems
To develop the students' ability to analyze and solve systems, level IT problems and enhance their communications skills

Career Prospects

Graduates will have acquired cutting-edge knowledge and skills in telecommunication technologies. They will also have developed effective oral and written communication skills, the ability to work in a team, and essential business and management attributes, which makes them very attractive to employers in the all aspects of the telecommunications industry.
