Programme Description

This degree program is based on a core of mathematics, physics, and electronics courses that provide the scientific and technical background required for an in-depth understanding of system hardware and software. Although students are entitled to earn a telecommunication degree, this program covers all aspects of modern computer networking as well as management.

Focusing on the technologies used in telecommunication systems and on the design and implementation of telecommunication networks, students are encouraged to concentrate on one or more aspect of modern telecommunication systems, such as digital and analog electronics, optical technology and photonics, electromagnetic and wireless systems, signal processing, broadband technology, digital broadcasting technology, hardware and software. There is also a solid coverage of subjects including management, economics, accounting and law, while students are required to take industrial training and graduation projects to provide them with useful industrial experience and training.

Programme Aims

To provide a sound understanding of the science of telecommunication engineering technology
To provide graduates with a route into employment so that they can make a valuable contribution to plan, design, operate, install, configure and maintain electronics and telecommunication systems

Career Prospects

A broad range of career opportunities exist for engineers, from sales, management, technical projects, research and development. This degree is ideal for those interested in pursuing a career as telecommunications engineers.
