  Programme Description
   
  The Diploma in Physiotherapy is a 3-year programme that focuses on the application of physical therapy practice, a knowledge and skill to prevent problems arising from various disorders related to human body movement. First year students will learn the basic structure and function of human body, therapeutic exercises & modalities and human behaviour. In the second year, students will learn to deliver safe and effective treatment, emphasising on clinical conditions and Physiotherapy management related to musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory, neuroscience, womens health and geriatrics. In the final year, the modules are centred on real world practice. Students will be posted to various hospitals as a part of practical training to achieve minimum 1000 clinical hours in managing patients with disabled conditions such as lower-back pain, arthritis, heart disease, fractures, head injuries, neurological disorders, gynaecological ailments, cerebral palsy, post-surgical patients and accident victims, etc. Upon completion, students can choose to practice in a specific field.
   
  Programme Aims
     
  To provide a comprehensive learning in the contemporary practice of Physical Therapy, preparing students for a career in Physiotherapy
  To prepare students with hands-on training similar to real world practice
  To train students to assess and deliver a safe and ethical Physical Therapy procedure when treating patients with functional limitations
  To train students in communicating effectively and giving a positive impact to their patients, community and the profession on the importance of rehabilitative procedures
     
  Career Prospects
   
  Physiotherapists can work in a wide range of fields such as hospitals, healthcare centres, woman's health services, community/neuro rehab centres, special centres for disabled people, special schools for children, orthopedic centres, cardiac fitness centres, mental care & nursing homes, voluntary organisations, private rehab centres, clinical officers in colleges and universities or a fitness instructor.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 
SPM / SPMV / O-Level (with 3 credits) in any subjects or other equivalent qualifications recognised by Government of Malaysia
UEC with at least Grade B on 3 subjects inclusive of 1 Science subject
Credit in Science or Sport Science is required with a pass in Bahasa Malaysia and English
Candidates should not have any disabilities that may affect their studies or future employment
