  Programme Description
  These courses in Environmental Health will train you to become Health Inspectors and Environmental Health Officers. Such work revolves around the relationship between human and the environment and how these two elements affect each other. Health Inspector and Environmental Health Officers are empowered by the country’s health laws in ensuring what we eat, drink and breathe as well as the environment we live in does not impose adverse health effects and are safe and conducive for a healthy living. They perform health works in a preventive fashion to support health and safety while preventing the occurrence of illnesses.

  Programme Aims
     
  To provide comprehensive knowledge about environmental hazards and how they affect our well-being and health status.
  To enable students to identify and control vital environmental health components such as water quality, food safety, toxic waste, noise and air pollution that affect the society at large.
  To equip students with pertinent legal skills to enforce national health laws and regulations.
     
 
 
  Career Prospects
   
  Environmental health graduates are in great demand in both public and private sector. They are employed in various government ministries such as Ministry of Health, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Housing as well as in Local Authorities. Graduates also build their careers in Health Related Services Providers such as Indah Water, Alam Flora and water Companies. In the private sector they are recruited as Hygiene or Health and Safety Officers in building and construction industry, chemicals, food manufacturing and other related industries.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 
DIPLOMA
Candidates must meet ONE of the following requirements:
SPM (with 3 credits) in any subjects or other equivalent qualifications.
For Occupational Therapy programme, a credit in Science and a pass in Mathematics, Bahasa Malaysia and English is required.
For the MLT programme, a credit in Mathematics and Science and a pass in Bahasa Malaysia and English is required or pass UEC with 1B and minimum ‘C’ for Science, Mathematics, Bahasa Malaysia and English.
For the Pharmacy programme, a credit in Mathematics, Science and English is required.
For the Physiotherapy programme, a credit in Science or Sport Science is required an a pass in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
For Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy programmes, candidates should not have any disabilities that may affect their studies and future employment.
For Nursing programme, 5 credit inclusive of Mathematics and Science, a pass in Bahasa Malaysia and English is required.
