		Programme Description
		You will be trained to identify, research and creatively solve problems relating to the function and aesthetics of interior space to improve quality of life, increase productivity, create ambience and protect health, safety and welfare. Apart from building systems and structures, you will explore interesting topics and concepts such as space, texture, furnishings, colour, materials and every aspect of environmental design. The latter includes lighting, acoustics and human factors. Among the skills that you will acquire are the understanding and application of design
fundamentals, planning two-dimensional space, developing three-dimensional designs, producing technical drawings (by hand and on AutoCAD), selecting and applying colour, light, materials, and electrical and mechanical elements, applying relevant laws, codes, standards and regulations.

	Programme Aims

	•	To provide ample opportunities for students to study a wide range of design processes and develop technical skills and problem-solving capabilities in carrying out interior design projects
	•	At the beginning, students are trained to hone their drawing skills, creativity and general design knowledge. As the semesters proceed, students are challenged to undertake larger and more challenging design tasks; thus, students of all abilities are catered for.
	•	To enhance the graduates’ chances of climbing their career path and make a valuable contribution to society.


Career Prospects
Graduates will be qualified to work in interior design offices, architectural firms, contract sales or as a freelance/self-employed interior designer.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

DIPLOMA
Candidates must meet ONE of the following requirements:
•	SPM with 3 credits and a pass in Mathematics and Art Studies. Candidates without Art Studies in SPM are required to attend an interview to present their artwork.
•	For Landscape Architecture, SPM/SPMV/‘O’ Level with 3 credit inclusive of Mathematics or UEC with 3B inclusive of Mathematics.
•	For Architecture, SPM with 3 credit inclusive of Mathematics.
•	Other equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution of higher learning.
