	Programme Description


	The Diploma in Architecture provides a strong foundation in architecture for students. Designed to produce graduates who are well-versed with architectural theories, principles and methods in creating sustainable designs. In terms of skills, students will be trained in architectual sketching, drafting and drawing techniques. The programme also emphasises on computer-aided drawings using updated software. To prepare for the workplace, students will gain an extensive knowledge in building construction, materials, structural analysis & design and building technology. Real projects approach is integrated into the curriculum to facilitate critical and innovative thinking as part of practical training.

	Programme Aims

	•	To provide students with architectural design principles, theories and history supported by the creative problem-solving skills necessary to help them to assist in producing sustainable architecture designs
	•	To equip students with comprehensive building science and knowledge of building in terms of construction, technology, materials and services
	•	To train students to draw, document and present their architectural design works using CADD, 3DMAX, PHOTOSHOP, SKETCH UP and the latest software

	Career Prospects

	Graduates can work as assistants to architects, assistants to engineers, related design professionals, technical and managerial positions with building contractors, home design companies, building component manufacturers and suppliers. A graduate with an excellent foundation, can also pursue undergraduate studies with the aim of becoming a professional architect.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

•	SPM (3 credits inclusive of Mathematics or a recognised certificate with at least CGPA 2.00
•	UEC with at least Grade B in 3 subjects inclusive of Mathematics
•	Other equivalent qualifications recognised by Government of Malaysia
•	A certificate from Polytechnic in the similar field
•	Additonal requirement includes a pass in Art Studies / Engineering Drawing at SPM level or other equivalent qualifications recognised by Government of Malaysia.Candidates without or failed Art Studies / Engineering Drawing (SPM level) are required to attend an interview to present their artwork
