	Programme Description


	The Diploma in Product Design prepare students to be effective industrial designers with a sound knowledge in the fundamentals of design, problem-solving ability, product efficiency and contemporary market considerations. Students will get a broad spectrum of design challenges, ranging from consumer electronics to mobile communication devices, home electronics, appliances to furniture, and even outdoor public facilities. Through competitions and real-life projects commissioned by companies, the curriculum keep students in tune with the demands of the industry.

	Programme Aims

	•	To develop versatile designers with a broad understanding of the technology, manufaturing and creative aspects of design, focusing on industrial manufactured products
	•	To provide opportunities for students to develop knowledge in product development, design of innovative products, taking different aspects into consideration, including technical, functional, aesthetic and ergonomics design
	•	To expose students in the area of design development processes and the application that meet customers’ expectations within the demands of cost, quality, and reliability

	Career Prospects

	Graduates will find exciting opportunities in many industries such as product design, automotive design, furniture design, design consultation, product merchandising, model making and other areas of design.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

•	SPM / SPMV with 3 credits in any subjects
•	Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least Grade B in 3 subjects
•	Other equivalent qualifications recognised by Government of Malaysia
