		Programme Description
		This diploma will prepare you to be an effective industrial designer with a sound foundation in the fundamentals of design, holistic solutions for problems with aesthetics, product efficiency and contemporary market considerations. You will enjoy a broad spectrum of design challenges, ranging from consumer electronics to mobile communication devices, from home electronics/appliances to furniture, and even to outdoor public facilities. Through competitions and real-life projects commissioned by companies, the course curriculum keeps you abreast of the latest trends of the various industries through a healthy dose of realism.

	Programme Aims

	•	To cultivate a keen sense of aesthetics in students and a strong foundation in product design knowledge, including the skills and critical think-out-of-the-box mindset to be creative, from concepts to actual working models, using state-of-the-art tools and technologies.
	•	To provide students with a practical understanding of design development processes and their application. There is an emphasis on being creative yet pragmatic in producing designs so that the expectations of clients as to cost, quality and reliability are fulfilled.

Graduates will find attractive opportunities in many industries such as product design, product development, packaging design, specialized marketing/brand conceptualization and various other areas of design.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

DIPLOMA
Candidates must meet ONE of the following requirements:
•	SPM with 3 credits and a pass in Art Studies. Candidates without Art Studies in SPM are required to attend an interview to present their artwork.
•	Other equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution of higher learning.

Foundation in Design
•	SPM (with 5 credits) in any subject or
•	Other equivalent qualifications.

DEGREE
Candidates must meet ONE of the following requirements:
•	STPM (with 2 principal passes) including Pengajian Am or Diploma, A-Levels, Foundation courses, Matriculation, Pre University and other equivalent qualifications and a pass in Bahasa Malaysia at SPM.
•	Other equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution of higher learning.
