Programme Description

This course will teach you the basic principles of solving graphic design problems. Using state-of-the-art industry software and related programmes, you will develop the ability and confidence to create stunning and successful designs, demonstrate effective use of colour, dominant elements, typographical and production skills to execute effective design layouts that meet exacting industry standards.
The degree gives you the ability to analyse and solve graphic design problems and learn typographic aesthetics, master Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, including other multimedia software, prepare a portfolio for professional presentation and evaluation, and develop analytical thinking together with problem solving skills relevant for the graphic design industry. The portfolio will contain your best samples of projects representing various graphic arts software programmes to be showcased to prospective employers.

	•	To develop the creativity of graduates through intensive application of graphic tools (computer applications) and techniques
	•	To instil in graduates an understanding for how to use visual communication in different media and environments
	•	To guide graduates in managing the creative design process to ensure high quality creative output


		Career Prospects
		With the growth of IT, more and more industries require graphic design skills; therefore, job opportunities for holders of this degree are tremendous. They include designer in print, electronic and film media, marketing, or environmental graphics for business and government. Graduates are also equipped to venture into the creative industry as graphic specialists, instructional designers, art directors, packaging designers, and so on.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

DIPLOMA
Candidates must meet ONE of the following requirements:
•	SPM with 3 credits and a pass in Art Studies. Candidates without Art Studies in SPM are required to attend an interview to present their artwork.
•	Other equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution of higher learning.

Foundation in Design
•	SPM (with 5 credits) in any subject or
•	Other equivalent qualifications.

DEGREE
Candidates must meet ONE of the following requirements:
•	STPM (with 2 principal passes) including Pengajian Am or Diploma, A-Levels, Foundation courses, Matriculation, Pre University and other equivalent qualifications and a pass in Bahasa Malaysia at SPM.
•	Other equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution of higher learning.
